![]() ![]() Prior to joining Heatherwick Studio, she worked as a full time lecturer at University of Kentucky School of Architecture for 5 years and co-founded an architecture research lab, Design Office Takebayashi Scroggin in 2009. Prior to joining Heatherwick Studio, Akari lived and worked in New York for 13 years and worked at practices including Reiser + Umemoto RUR Architecture DPC, Weiss / Manfredi, and Ennead Architects on numerous cultural and public realm projects, research and competitions.Īkari graduated from her architecture degree at the Pratt Institute in New York and also holds a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Akari is an architectural designer with significant experience on cultural, commercial, residential and masterplans projects, including a university campus, and large scale public realm / landscape / infrastructure design.Īkari joined Heatherwick Studio in 2015 and has since worked on numerous projects including Pier 55 a park and performance space on the Hudson River in New York an urban study and space analysis of Covent Garden, London and a design competition for a sustainable redevelopment of an existing central London Tower.
